Navigating Spiritual TurbulenceĀ
This message was shared by Apostle Kathryn Krick, Lead Pastor/Apostle of 5F Church, in Los Angeles on August 30, 2026. To watch the full video, scroll to the bottom of this post. We pray this teaching blesses you and equips you to walk as a powerful vessel of God.
Today I felt the Holy Spirit leading us to celebrate what God has done this past week in Paris, and what He’s doing in this revival, to really give Him glory. We are going to learn how to honor Him and give Him glory and touch His heart through this word today.
Psalm 19:14
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
This should be our prayer and our intention. This should be a priority for us every single day and in every season: that our meditations and our words and our actions would be pleasing to God. That includes when you’re in a valley, when you’re in the middle of a battle, and during times of persecution.
Today we’re going to learn today specifically how, in times of persecution and in the battle, to be pleasing to God. Sometimes you could be flustered and think “Rescue me, Lord” and forget that we are still supposed to be after His heart. We are still supposed to want to please Him—even in difficult times, even when there’s pressure. This is still our responsibility. God wants to see this from us: that every single day we are being after His heart.
The Lord has really been speaking to me recently about how, when you are experiencing new levels and new devils, when you are experiencing new opposition because God is taking higher, you really need to have the right perspective about what’s going on. You really need to understand that we who are on this earth are on an adventure with Jesus. He’s a pilot. We're on the plane and He’s taking us somewhere great. He’s in control, and there is a journey to get us to the destination, to get us to the promised land. There is a journey. On the plane, there will be turbulence on the way up. When He’s taking you higher on this adventure, there will be turbulence. If you’ve ever flown, you know that turbulence is a part of the journey.
Some people can be worried about flying because of the turbulence. And when turbulence hits, they can completely forget their excitement about this adventure that they’re on and this new destination that they’re headed to. They can forget the fun and the amazing life-changing experiences they will have. They can forget it completely and focus totally on the turbulence.
On my way back from Orlando, I happened to be talking to a pilot who was sitting next to me. He showed me an app that shows pilots where there is turbulence, and it's constantly being updated to make sure they can avoid it. So I asked him, “The only reason you avoid it is for comfort, right?” He said, “Yes, completely! It's just for the passengers' comfort. There’s no danger in turbulence at all. It's just about comfort.”
It was cool to hear that from the mouth of a pilot. It just shows you how silly it is for any of us to be afraid when we feel the drop in the plane or the shaking because there is no danger in that. It’s just part of the journey. It’s part of going higher. It’s part of going to the destination. But there are some people on the plane who don't mind the turbulence, and some people who even enjoy it. For some people, it helps them sleep; it's soothing.
I remember when I was about six years old and my parents and I were at Disney World. I said, “I want to go on Thunder Mountain!” My mom said, “Are you sure, Kathryn? Are you sure?” I said, “Yeah! Everyone looks like they’re having fun.” So I got on the roller coaster with my dad, who loves roller coasters. He has no fear—I’ve never seen him afraid of anything. As soon as the roller coaster took off, I felt my stomach drop. It was probably my first time feeling like that way. Some of you may have experienced that on a roller coaster before. So for the entire ride, I kept saying, loudly, “Help me, God! Help me God! I had my eyes shut the whole time, but my dad was laughing! So it was two polar opposites. At one time he said, “Kathryn, open your eyes! It’s beautiful!" I did not go on a roller coaster for years after that. It took me a long time. Now I love roller coasters, but it took me a few hours to finally get on a roller coaster again.
This is an amazing example of our life with Jesus and the journeys he takes us on. When we hit turbulence, like opposition or the enemy attacking, it’s just turbulence. The enemy wants you to be so afraid and miss out on the excitement of this precious, beautiful, amazing, fun journey with God. He wants you to miss out on all that fun. My dad was having the time of his life and I was crying out to God like never before, thinking something was going to happen. We have God, who is in the truth, and the devil, who is a liar.
The devil wants you to come into his lies and live in his lies and completely miss out on the joy of the journey that God is taking you on. The turbulence is not to be afraid of. It’s just part of it. You can even see joy in it!
And we’ve seen this to be true. A couple weeks ago I gave a message called The Great Shaking, and I shared about how right now in the body of Christ, God has brought a shaking. Just as God allowed the enemy to attack Job, God is allowing this shaking to occur, and it will either build or break people. People will either be built and become stronger disciples and true children of God, or people will decide to serve the enemy or go with the enemy's lies. God is seeing who is hot and who is cold. He is shaking believers out of lukewarmness to be either hot or cold. And the ones who are already hot are going to become hotter. They’re going to be built up through the shaking. Knowing that, we see this is a good thing! The shaking is a good thing! The turbulence is a good thing, and all of us are becoming stronger through this. And God is moving in greater ways than ever before through this, as He builds up His church!
When I got back home last night, before I went to bed, I was so full of the joy of the Lord from what God did. So I read Psalm 37 right before I went to bed and I was looking out the window and seeing the grass that was dead and brown. LA might be in the biggest heatwave since I have lived here, since 2013. It’s been this constant heatwave, perhaps prophetic with the igniting of revival, the fire of God. I noticed how the grass is really brown; the sprinklers can’t even keep up.
Psalm 37:1-15
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. (God gives signs everywhere!)
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity. The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.
I want to walk us through Psalm 37. In the beginning it says, Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. And it keeps on saying this in different ways: don’t fret about what the wicked are doing because they will go away. We need to understand that what you sow, you will reap. This is speaking about enemies today: enemies against you and against God. If you are standing with God, then your enemies are enemies against God. This Scripture is saying that what they are doing—their attempts, their plans, their attacks to try to stop you, to try to stop the move of God—will fall away. If it seems like they are succeeding in some area, it will pass. They can’t continue causing harm to the move of God and the people of God. If they have managed to blind people or confuse people who are babies in the Lord, this will die away. This will not keep on happening. If you are in a season of turbulence, it won’t be turbulence forever. When the plane lands, there's no more turbulence, until God takes you higher to the next destination. That’s the revelation I have for you today about enemies who are against you, against God, against the work of God: what they are doing cannot last. And the Bible says, “What you sow, you will reap” (Galatians 6:7). You don’t sow and immediately reap as your sowing. So you see the wicked do things, and it’s not reaping time yet, but the reaping will come: when God makes what they’re doing to fade away.
Verse 13 says, The Lord laughs at the wicked. But verse 12 says, The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them. The wicked plot against the righteous. They are coming up with schemes of how to take the righteous down, how to try to stop them from doing what God has called them to do. They gnash their teeth at them; they have this hatred towards them. But the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
So when the Lord is laughing, what does that mean? God isn’t threatened by the opposition. Those who oppose God’s people are no match for God. So their attempts are laughable. The lack of fear of God is ridiculous. To say you believe in God but to not fear Him and to think you can come against Him—that’s laughable. So when God laughs, the Scripture is saying, He is not threatened at all. He is not worried at all. When people try to stop His plans, they can’t stop anything. They can’t slow down anything. They can’t make God do something different or come up with something different. God’s plans will prevail. God will keep doing what He has planned to do since before anybody was created by Him, since thousands and thousands of years ago. God will keep doing what He has planned to do in the year 2026, in the year 2027, here in Los Angeles, in America, and in every nation in the world. He’s going to keep doing what he planned to do. It’s laughable to think that people can try to stop Him, stop His move, or try to stop revival.
This evil of people cannot overthrow God’s move; it’s laughable. So when Scripture says that, we need to understand that it’s not like God is taking it lightly, but it’s that He is not threatened at all. So think about this: God has sent you to do something. God has sent us at Five-Fold Church to do His work. He has called us to ignite revival and spread revival: to heal the sick, to cast out demons, to preach the word of God, to equip people to be victorious over the devil, to impart the anointing to people to be vessels of God. He has called us to do this work. He is moving through us, He is empowering us to do this work. And then opposition comes to try to stop us from doing this work, but it’s laughable. What is God doing? He’s laughing at the wicked. Why aren’t we laughing? Why aren’t we laughing with joy at the turbulence? Why would you be afraid when God is laughing at the wicked?
Sometimes you need to pause and ask, What does God think about this situation right now? What is God doing right now? What is He thinking right now? He’s laughing.
This is why the Bible is so important. You have to open up Psalm 37 if you are in a time of trial and renew your mind. God is laughing at the wicked. Why am I worried? Why do I feel intimidated? Why am I stressed? Why am I losing sleep? God is laughing, and I’m going to laugh with Him!
We also see throughout this passage that when we see the wicked come against us and against the work of God, that it’s just a season of turbulence that will pass. Psalm 37 says it again and again. The Lord knows their day is coming. The grass will wither. It looks green now, but it will wither. So this is saying to us: this will not last; this will not prevail; this will pass. Keep going. Keep moving. Don’t mind the turbulence. God is with you. You can’t be stopped.
John 12:9-11
Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
They had heard of this miracle of Lazarus being raised from the dead and so many people coming to Jesus. That is why we at Five-Fold Church do as the Lord says and publicize the miracles, because this is how people come to Jesus. So they had heard of this testimony of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead and that many were believing in Jesus and showing up to revival. And this is what’s happening here: God is taking us higher, and turbulence is there, but through the turbulence, we are going higher. We’re not staying in the same place. We’re not going lower; we’re going higher. That’s why the turbulence is there, because we are going higher. And so it is so amazing: you can’t deny the miracles and the testimonies. “The pure in heart shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).
Lately, there has been so much attention brought to Five-Fold Church. A lot of it has been through the wicked trying to stop the move of God, speaking lies. So this makes people curious. I recently read this comment: “I heard so many things that I had to go look into this. So I went and I’ve seen enough. I’m a part of this revival now and I’m grateful I found it. This is truly God.” I’ve heard so many of these testimonies, and you can see that this is what’s happened. Why were there 68 nations at an event, when the most we’ve ever had at an event was 30 nations? Because of all of this talk about what God is doing at Five-Fold Church, including so many from the wicked saying lies, but there are many more people out there with pure hearts who can see God. And now they’re finding out about what God is doing, and they’re hearing testimonies like Lazarus of today, like Dianne’s son who was raised from the dead, and there was a prophetic word spoken here that God used to raise Him from the dead. She comments on posts, testifying of this. And so I believe many more people are coming. We had our biggest US event by far, by double, in Orlando recently in the midst of this. Because there are so many more people who are pure in heart and who shall see God. When they come and look, it’s undeniable the miracles that God is doing. So they’re hearing the stories of these miracles, these true testimonies, and it’s the Bible coming alive where “for on account of him,” of Lazarus, “many Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in Him.” Many people are coming to events and coming to LA, to 5F Church, because they’ve heard of the miracles that Jesus is doing and they are believing. Praise God!
John 12:9-11
A large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
In the times of Jesus, large crowds were coming to faith in him because they heard of the miracle of Lazarus being risen from the dead. Because of the miracle and many people coming to Jesus, the religious leaders wanted to stop Jesus. So they came up with plans and schemes: like Psalm 37 says, “The wicked plot.” They were plotting, “How do we stop so many people from coming to Jesus?” So they came up with this wicked scheme to kill Lazarus so that his testimony wouldn’t keep getting out and he wouldn’t keep testifying.
We are seeing this same thing today. Jesus is doing many miracles, revival is breaking out, and many more people are being added because they hear about the miracles that Jesus is doing, through the testimonies. We keep posting testimonies, usually daily, and more and more people are hearing these testimonies. And so there are religious leaders who want to stop this, just like the Pharisees. So they plot and come up with schemes of how they can stop it and kill this move of God. But you know what’s amazing? You never see in the Bible that they were able to get away with this plan to kill Lazarus. God’s protection was there, so even though they plotted and schemed, their weapons formed against the move of God could never prosper.
The Bible is powerful! We read about the times of Jesus, and we can see that the Bible has come alive. So when we see people plotting like this, trying to do something evil to try to stop the move of God, we shouldn’t be worried. This is the turbulence. God will protect us just like He protected the move of God in the times of Jesus.
Jesus was ministering for three years, and this was going on all that time. Pharisees were watching with skeptical eyes, speaking against Jesus and trying to pull people away, but Jesus just kept on ministering. And more and more people kept coming to faith in Jesus, and more and more miracles kept happening. The Pharisees were there, but Jesus kept going. The people kept rejoicing and giving glory to God and thriving in God’s will. So this is how it is for us today. The Pharisees will always be there. They will always be plotting something new. And this is really evil: they were coming up with a plan to try to kill somebody who just received a miracle.
So we see the wicked doing really evil things today, come up with really evil schemes, but it shouldn’t bother us because God is protecting us. No weapons formed against us shall prosper. This is just turbulence. You can wrongly think it’s really scary and the plane is going to go down, but you’re being foolish if that’s what you think and if you allow your feelings to go there. It’s foolish, actually. Have joy! The wicked are plotting against you, but have joy, because the Bible is coming alive. This means you are really dangerous to the devil’s kingdom and he’s seeing you as such a threat that he is trying harder than ever to try to take you out, but he never can.
Psalm 37:1
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong.
Why would you be envious of those who do wrong? Because they seem to be having success for now and their grass is green now, but will soon wither. They influence now, but don’t be envious of that! They will soon wither. But when you
Psalm 37:4, 11
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. …
The meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.
And it keeps saying “do not fret” a few times. Do not fret. Do not fret, people of God!
What's the definition of “fret”? To worry.
2 Kings 6:15-17
When the servant of [Elisha] got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my Lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.” “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
In today’s time, the Pharisees, the wicked ones, try to be really loud because they’re passionately trying to stop the work of God. Meanwhile the people of God around the world are just with Jesus. They're reading the word, spending time with Jesus, doing the work of God, and spending time with their families. They're not so loud.
Now the army of God—the ones who are on the front lines—need to be loud with their testimonies and proclaim the truth. But in this move of God there are so many more who are for us than against us. There are so many more who have pure hearts, who see God, than those who are religious, wicked, and jealous, and want to stop the work of God. But many people become like Elisha’s servant when they’re going through persecution. They think, “Oh no! Look at all the people against us. I think we are going to die. I think they are going to stop us.”
How silly! Open your spiritual eyes to see that there are more for us than against us. Whenever you’re on the Lord’s side, you have the majority. Whenever you’re on the Lord’s side, you have the victory, no matter what. You have the angel armies, but you also have so many more around the world who are cheering you on, whether they know you or not. Maybe they have never met you, but if they were to know what you are doing, they would cheer you on. There are so many more out there who are pure than those who are wicked and want to see you fall for no reason other than jealousy.
Don’t be worried. When it says, “Do not fret when enemies come against you,” God is saying to not be worried. I want to share with you how to glorify God through persecution and through battles: Don’t worry! He is the pilot on the plane; you are hitting turbulence and He is smiling. He is laughing and saying, “Oh, this is the shaking that is going to build my church.” This is how we go higher! So, don’t be worried. Be at peace, and have joy. Hallelujah.
The word “fret” is also defined as being unhappy.
Proverbs 4:23-27
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or to the left; keep your foot from evil.
At Ignite Revival Paris, we were immersed with heaven on earth. We were immersed in the truth, with thousands of believers from 68 different nations who were in one accord, who are pure in heart, who see the truth, who don’t fall for the lies of the devil, who are not religious and hypocritical and evil in their hearts. We were there for one reason: to worship Jesus and to see Him have His way, to say, “Lord, have your way. Heal your people. Deliver your people. Do what you want to do. Anoint your people for works of ministry.” We were immersed. This is how it is also every Sunday. We are immersed in the truth; as it will be when we go to heaven. No devil around! But we have the choice to always live that way here. We do not need to give an ear to the devil.
What God is doing right now is more exciting than ever before. We are seeing Him move in ways we’ve never seen before. We are seeing Him reach more and more people in His revival every day, in different nations around the world. We are seeing Him heal and deliver so many people and touch so many people every day by His power and love. We are seeing more people come into the Kingdom. More people are coming to these events than ever before. We are seeing God move in shocking ways, touching people at book signings in bookstores, opening doors in media for revival to reach more people than ever before. These are the most exciting days we are living in.
Before, we were doing the work of God on the ground, advancing and moving forward, like in a car. In this season, it’s like we’ve boarded the plane. We are going faster than ever before. Before we were driving the car up the mountains, and we were really going high. But now we are going higher on the plane. But the turbulence feels a little bit different than the occasional pothole.
This is the season that we are in, in this revival. These are the most exciting days of our lives. There is so much to be joyful about. We should never take our eyes off of what God is doing in this revival. We should never take our eyes off of our precious relationship with Jesus every day. We should never take our eyes off of giving thanks for all the blessings He’s giving us. Look at the life He has given you—the freedom, the healing, the peace, the joy, the abundance. You are living an amazing abundant life.
You are taking your eyes off of that and giving attention to the devil’s lies. Why are you doing that? Heaven is over here in the truth. Live in the truth. You don’t need to live in the lies for one day. Live in the truth always. The enemy wants to distract; he wants to pull you to the left and to the right. He wants to say, “Oh, look what this evil person is doing, trying to stop the work of God, trying to stop you. Oh, look at this wicked plan, how they are trying to kill Lazarus.” Lazarus is protected. The work of God is protected. Stay focused, and keep your joy. Guard your heart, because everything you do flows from it. For your light to shine so bright, you have to guard your heart. You have to stay focused. There’s so much to be grateful for. There’s so much to praise God for in this season.
I even think the cost is a joy. What an honor it is for God to entrust me with this and for Him to say, “I trust you. I know you are not going to give up. I know you are going to keep your faith. I know you are going to stay humble. I trust you, so I’m going to take you through something hard.” That should give you so much joy and peace, to think, “God, you trust me like that? You are proud of me? You want to use me in this way?!” That’s where our focus should be, instead of, “Oh, these evil people, what are they doing? Am I okay?”
Stay in the truth, people of God! Stay in the truth. The devil is a liar.
Matthew 23:13
What sorrow awaits you, teachers of religious law, and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You won’t go in yourselves and you won’t let others enter either.
The Pharisees of today are not experiencing the Kingdom of heaven. They are not experiencing peace and joy, and they make it their mission to try to keep people from entering into the Kingdom of heaven. They spew negativity, darkness, and lies. So here you are, living in the Kingdom of heaven. You are experiencing peace and joy and abundant life. God is using you powerfully and your light is shining bright. You are experiencing heaven on earth. You have sweet, precious intimacy with Jesus, no religion or condemnation. You are in the Kingdom of heaven. You are in the new wine. You have to guard your heart and be careful that you are not putting your attention on the Pharisees, the people outside the Kingdom of heaven, who are spewing all their darkness and nonsense. Because when you do that, you are taking it in. It’s like you are stepping out of the Kingdom of heaven and coming over to where they are. Don’t partake with that poison. Stay where God has brought you: in the truth, in the Kingdom of heaven. Stay focused. You are not alone. Look at this mighty army of God here in LA and all over the world in 171 nations, and thousands of people at this event in Paris: that is our family in Christ. Let’s unite and stay focused together and stay in the Kingdom of heaven, stay in peace and joy, and keep doing the work of God with all of our hearts.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
When we are steadfast, we are continually focused on Jesus and on what He’s called us to do. We are focused on the truth! Stay in the truth! You know the truth that God has revealed to you. Stay there! Why would you want to leave? Stay there. You have the choice every day. Stay there.
Your mind is so powerful. What you focus on determines the peace and joy that you have. It determines what you are taking in: more of God’s presence or the poison of the enemy. This is how we glorify God. This is how we please Him in battles, in persecution: we don’t fret. We don’t fret at the turbulence. We are not afraid, but we have peace instead. We’re not in a place of unhappiness. We have joy and excitement instead because the turbulence is a sign that we are going higher. We are about to see it more and more. We are about to see God take this revival higher and higher with every day. We have so many more fivefold ministers anointed now around the world. The devil is defeated! His time is up, and we have the victory!
My spiritual father Prophet Dr. GeorDavie said in Paris, “The turbulence will continue.” But that’s great! It’s like a long airplane ride. We’re not just going to Denver. Maybe we’re not even going to Paris. We are going so far, to the promised land. Where we are now looks nothing compared to where God is taking us. That means that more turbulence is a good thing, because God doesn’t want to take us just one level above, but many levels above.
This message is the true perspective of Christ that we should have. Many Christians are not familiar with this perspective in times of persecution, because they have never seen the Bible come alive before. They have never experienced this kind of evil coming against people, just because of jealousy and religiousness, but this is the true perspective and mindset we need to have. The Bible has come alive. Jesus is moving like we have never seen. This is really revival.
