A lot of Christians are literally “know it all's” on hearing God’s voice. When God called me, when I received the prophecy that I was called to be an Apostle, I was shocked because I didn’t see myself as that spiritual. I thought something was wrong with me because I felt like I wasn’t hearing God how other people were hearing God. I knew I had a relationship. I knew I heard from God but in comparison to many people around me, “God told me this. God told me this. God told me this. God told me this”- constantly. And for me, it was much more that still small voice & for many days it wasn't God saying anything wild or crazy. He’s always speaking over us, we just have to open our ears. But the big thing He’s speaking over us all the time is “I love you. I’m proud of you. My promises are yes & amen. Keep going. I’m with you”. And the simple direction He spoke to you, that’s the direction. A lot of people are thinking He’s speaking “turn right, turn left, turn right, turn left, turn right, turn right, turn right, turn left, turn right, turn left, turn right” when God’s saying “Do this” & He’s saying this word for like months or years sometimes, like and significant direction. And each day, it hasn’t changed. It’s “straight, go straight. Go straight”.  

A lot of people they kind of want God to be more like entertaining or more exciting. And so, they think directions are gonna happen like this and they want God to speak, “Go do this. Go do that. Go do this”.  Sometimes they over spiritualize things like “God’s telling me to go turn on the news now. God’s telling me to go make breakfast now. Um God’s telling me to go to bed at 10:14”. Over spiritualizing things because they want to feel like God is this talkative, giving all these different directions all the time.  

We gotta be careful about that, number one, that we are not trying to like manipulate God to be a different way than He is. Then we’re opening up doors for the angel of light to come sounding like God & speaking a direction that is the opposite of God wants. But not just that, but even our own imagination. It can sometimes not even be the devil, but your own imagination is creating things that you think God is saying. That can be distracting us from staying that course. Instead of like going like this (points hand straight forward) and being one step closer every day to the promised land & going glory to glory & just being perfectly in God’s will & passing every test so that God can pour out the powerful anointing in your life; instead of this, we are like this (points hand in curvy, back & forth direction). And we’re having fun, life’s exciting, with our (air quotes) “spiritual encounters” but we’re going nowhere. We’re missing the glorious abundant life God has for us, walking in His purpose. And touching His heart & pleasing Him. It’s this balance of being very confident in certain things that God has spoken to you but then a big part of you is a baby. “There’s so much for me to learn. And I think God might be speaking this but I’m not sure”. That’s good! That’s a good place to be! That's not a bad place to be! When certain areas, you’re not sure about some things, that means that you are still growing, you are disciple, you are student. You shouldn’t know everything. You should not be a know it all.
