The Power of Honor
Romans 13:7 AMP
Render to all men their dues. [Pay] taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, and honor to whom honor is due.
Honoring is characteristic of humility.
1st way humility is measured by: a lack of showing off, not boasting in oneself.
When achievements happen, you should celebrate it but always including God and giving Him the glory! Don’t hide it and don’t think it’s not humble, it’s part of giving God glory and a testimony for others to see how God has blessed you.
It’s not for you to get attention, but to give God glory.
2nd way humility is measured by: gratitude
Not just when you receive big blessings, but in all circumstances, even in the valley!
Constant gratitude even when things aren’t going your way.
3rd way humility is measured by: when your character is smeared, what is your response?
When you are humble, being insulted or having false accusations against you won’t bother you that much! Let God defend you! You are focused on the work of God!
God allows these attacks to measure your humility.
“It’s not about me, I’m here to serve God. If people think wrong things about me, I don’t care what people think”.
4th way humility is measured by: putting people before yourself, selflessness
One of the ways we do this is by honoring others! Honoring edifies and uplifts another.
“This person blessed me”
When you take the time to do this, you are lifting the person and not yourself.
When you don’t have humility you’re not really thinking this way. Your main motive is to make people see you a certain way. (instead of looking for ways to lift someone else up).
Romans 12:10
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
1st “power” of honor: this is one of the ways we make ourselves humble.
The Bible says humble yourself, take the action to humble yourself, not God make me humble.
2nd “power” of honor: it edifies others!
They can know Gods love through you as you edify them!
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up. Just as in fact you are doing.
This is one of the ways God strengthens another person, by you honoring and edifying them and calling out these things (wow look at what you’ve done for God!).
We should EDIFY one another!
We need people to speak life to us ❤️
“God used you powerfully (insert how)” Encourage them. This is so important we do this for each other.
When we edify each other, we will be stronger!!
Honoring servants of God to edify them
**1 Kings 19:4 (**Elijah was being hunted to be killed by Jezebel) 4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”
Elijah wasn’t spiritually immature or dealing with a spirit of depression. To see how he got to this point indicates how intense the persecution was. Servants of God are still humans, not robots!
When a servant of God is having so much hate spoken toward them, the body of Christ has a responsibility to speak the truth, honor, and edify. Simply speaking the truth.
You strengthen the vessel of God by doing this, you get to say it’s worth it all that you’re doing. God speaks through the Body! They can feel Gods love through our honor.
If the eye is being attacked, is the rest of the body going to just sit there? Body needs to help out the body part that’s being attacked! We let God fight the battles and don’t attack but we EDIFY! and honor!
3rd “power” of honor: Honor is needed for Gods work to go forth!
In Acts, the people positioned themselves where the anointing was (Apostle Paul & Apostle Peter) to be healed and delivered. There is a partnership with God and a vessel. This is His way. He chose it this way.
People brought the sick and demon possessed under Apostle Peters shadow.
How did they know to do this? People must have been speaking up! (Honoring).
Honoring is a part of testifying!
Many in the Body of Christ don’t understand the power of honor, we don’t see proper honor in the American church. There isn’t much of it. There’s this wrong religious mindset as glorifying the person. To glorify is different than honor!
God instructs us to honor people. We are only called to glorify God.
We have to share our testimonies!!!!! The truth needs to be louder than the lies!!!! This is how revival will spread!!!! We need to be unashamed!!!! And unafraid!!!!! And speak up!!!!!!
Numbers 12:1-10 God respects His servants. He doesn’t like when they don’t get respect! Miriam and Aaron didn’t even say anything that bad! Doesn’t this show how much God wants His servants to be honored?
God needs His vessel to be respected, honored, and believed that He is using them! The more that the fruits and truth is shared and spoken about, the more works He can do!
So many times we seperate God from servants of God. We can’t do this if we are serious about serving God and seeing His work go forth. It’s important for you to see the love God has for his servants. When you honor a servant of God, you’re also honoring God.
(which ****tremendously even touches His heart more in this season where the spirit of religion has made honoring seem wrong)
If you don’t honor the anointing you cannot receive it. The number 1 requirement is surrender and humility. Part of being humble is to honor.
The anointing is purely for Gods work and to help people. If you don’t want to accept and honor that God uses vessels, what makes you think God will use you? God cannot release the anointing to you if you don’t honor where you are receiving from. If you can’t edify people by honoring, than you will not steward the anointing well. You cannot do every other principle except for honor. You cannot sneak past God. He sees!
It’s time we stop bashing people for honoring!
Honoring is a beautiful thing! This can be done through words and actions.
“I know a vessel must be obedient and there’s a cost and a sacrifice for servants of God who carry the anointing, i have received so much because of God specifically moving through them. They are above me in the spiritual realm for my good! So we thank God for their obedience, it was a requirement for me to be blessed! I want to give you all the glory God by honoring your servant. — the meaning & heart of honoring.
Honoring is honorable!
Apostle Kathryn touched on cultural differences and how they honor at her spiritual fathers church. The way they honor opened up her eyes more. Getting down on one knee doesn’t mean you’re glorying them! It is a way to show honor in that culture. And it’s beautiful!
The wave of revival will grow bigger as we apply these new wine principles!
Declarations:
May this heart of honor increase in you
Let this word remain
May you be strong to share the whole truth of what you’ve received and bring honor where honor is due
